PART II -- FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT


Biographical Informaton

Fill in biographical information on the nominee; an outline of the contributions of the nominee, including examples; a discussion of the significance of the contributions of the nominee; any other information that would be germane to the selection process.




Supporting Letters

Supporting letters of testimony from other parties will be beneficial to the Committee's considerations. If those parties have sent the letters to you, you can include them as attachments (see part III). If the parties wish to submit their letters directly to the committee, a list of the committee members' postal addresses will be sent upon request after receipt of this submission.


PART II -- FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION


Reasons for Nomination

Summarize the reasons for the nomination and the nature of the effort being recognized. Nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Number of members/researchers benefiting and or participating
• Scope and variety of genealogical knowledge promoted by the nominee
• Quality and usefulness of content
• Quality of presentation, use of the medium of presentation, graphic design, etc.





Hard-Copy Material

Nominations should include five copies of hard materials (CD's or publications) or a reference to the URL for Internet projects. One copy should be sent to each of the committee members. A list of the committee members' postal addresses will be sent upon request after receipt of this submission. Submissions and supporting documentation will not be returned and remain the property of the IAJGS.

If providing five hardcopies is a significant hardship, please contact to determine if an alternative is feasible.



PART II -- FOR OUTSTANDING PROGRAM OR PROJECT


Reasons for Nomination

Summarize the reasons for the nomination and the nature of the project being recognized. A history of the Program or Project should be provided, including a discussion of all persons or organizations who have contributed to the Program or Project and the nature of their role and/or contribution. Nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Number of members/researchers benefiting and or participating
• Scope and variety of genealogical knowledge promoted by the nominee
• Quality and usefulness of the content
• Extent of publicity used to promote the programming or project;
• Effectiveness and quality of methodology/medium used to make information
    available to participants, i.e., actual presentation to a live audience,
    audio or videotape, website, printed presentations, CD, etc.
Samples should be provided for evaluation (5 copies).
Nominations should include specific information on the success of the program or project in meetings its objectives.

It would be helpful (although not required) for nominations to include five copies of actual presentations to live audiences, audio or video recordings, printed presentations, CDs, etc. One copy should be sent to each of the committee members. A list of the committee members' postal addresses will be sent upon request after receipt of this submission. Submissions and supporting documentation will not be returned and remain the property of the IAJGS.


PART II -- FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLICATION


Electronic Material

If the publication exists in electronic form, it should be submitted as an attachment. See Part III for instructions on adding attachments.


Hard-Copy Material

If the publication exists in hard copy only, Submissions should include five issues or copies of the publication. One copy should be sent to each of the committee members. A list of the committee members' postal addresses will be sent after receipt of this submission. Submissions and supporting documentation will not be returned and remain the property of the IAJGS.

If the submission is for a series, please submit several different issues published in the recent past.

if the submission is for a journal/newsletter, please submit several different issues published during the previous calendar year.

Names of the editors and others directly involved in the publications should be listed in the cover letter in Part I, although the award will be for the publication and will list only the names of the sponsoring organization (editor names will be noted in the presentation of the award).

Nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Material interest, variety and originality
• Content value to advancing the cause of Jewish genealogy
• Writing and editing quality
• Readability, attractiveness and graphic design quality
• Overall publication impact.



PART II -- FOR MALCOLM STERN GRANT


All nominations received for the Rabbi Malcolm Stern Grant will automatically also be considered for the John Stedman Memorial Grant using the same criteria, and there is no requirement for a separate nomination to be made for the John Stedman Memorial Grant.

The Cover Letter in Part 1 of this Grant Nomination form (or electronic attachments to this form – see below) must include the following information:

• The full name, address, email and fax (optional) of the organization or institution being nominated.
• A statement or explanation of how the nominated organization or institution meets the requirement of being “Non-profit” (or equivalent in the country in which it is set up).
• A statement as to whether or not the nominated organization or institution has previously been a Stern Grant recipient.
• A description (including scope and objectives) of the project/activity for which the funds would be used.
• The main purpose for which the Grant Funds would be used (eg which part(s) or phase(s) or specific costs of the project are intended to be funded by the award).
• Details of the funds required for the project/activity (including any overheads), and details of other sponsors/grants for the project (including any funds or funding commitments already received, and also any other current funds/sponsorship applications for this project).
• What would be the main benefits that would be provided to Jewish Genealogists if this project/activity were to be successfully completed?
• How would the results of the project/activity would be made available to the overall community of Jewish Genealogists?
• Would the results of the project be offered without charge or restrictions? If any charges or restrictions would be applied then please provide further details.
• The proposed timescale for the project/activity (split into phases if applicable).
• An explanation of how the award of a grant would increase the likelihood of the project/activity being accomplished.
• Any other information about the project/activity which you would like the Stern Grant Award Committee to consider.
