Building a Color-Coded Y DNA-Group Chart in One Step

Stephen P. Morse, San Francisco

This tool lets you build a Color-Coded Y-Chromosome DNA chart for a group of people
First import people from FamilyTree DNA, from Ysearch or from your own spreadsheet
Then select the imported people, and each one selected is added to the group chart
Using this companion tool, you can calculate the genetic distances between the group members in the chart

Step 1. IMPORTING PEOPLE FROM FTDNA, YSEARCH, OR SPREADSHEET

FTDNA Kit Code       This could take a while
Ysearch ID       This should be quicker
User-created Spreadsheet

Step 2. ADDING IMPORTED PEOPLE TO GROUP CHART

Imported People       Selected people are automatically added to group

Legend (norm = most prevalent value for members in group)

To copy the above chart to a spreadsheet or document
  1. Place cursor anywhere on chart
  2. Right click and choose "Select All"
  3. Right click again and choose "Copy"
  4. Go to the spreadsheet or document and do a paste
Mac users will have to modify the above instructions appropriately

Data presented here comes from Ysearch and FamilyTreeDNA

This page will fetch data from FamilyTreeDNA's website. There is no security leak on their site; the only way I am able to fetch the data is by using the kit and code number that you have entered. Any person or website not knowing those values cannot fetch your data from FamilyTreeDNA.

I do not collect and store your kit and code numbers. Of course I have no way of proving that to you, so if you do not trust me please do not use this site. I promise I won't be offended.
